Course Description:

From Pixar to Netflix, see how technology and imagination converge to transform animation and explore what’s next for digital storytelling.

Course Goals:

-Explore how past and current industry disruptions like CG animation, gaming, streaming and AI are reshaping animation 

-Gain insights into the skills and ideas driving careers in animation 

-Connect past milestones with today’s trends to ask: What’s next?


Instructor:



Hillary Murrell is a passionate professional with 15 years experience in animation education, museum education, and community outreach with a proven record of building nationally recognized educational programming. She currently works at DreamWorks Animation as the Sr. Manager of Leadership and Organizational Development where she collaborates with creatives and industry professionals to develop and curate leadership and artistic development opportunities for DreamWorks' leadership and artists. 

In her prior positions as the Director of Education at the Walt Disney Family Museum, Fowler Museum at UCLA, and various galleries in Los Angeles, CA and London, UK, Hillary connected industry professionals, artists and students through Community Outreach Programs, Teacher Trainings, Summer Intensives and more. She has also taught public speaking and presentation skills to a variety of for-profit and nonprofit organizations through improv. Hillary holds a Bachelor's degree in Art History from UCLA and a Master's degree in Contemporary Art from Sotheby's Institute of Art in London.

Hillary views the world through an artist's eyes taking inspiration from wherever she may find it. She sees her art as supporting other artists to reach their goals and tell their authentic stories.
